Presenting the Captain Morgan Hip Reduction
Seeing as though I like trying and publicizing new maneuvers for joint reductions, I figured I should give this one another go. Now to be fair, I have yet to try the maneuver myself, but seeing that satisfying CLUNK on the below Youtube video just makes me gosh darn happy.
Evidence-wise, the authors in the study that promote this technique note a 92% success rate (fine, N=13, but the 13th had a fracture, was anterior, and required open operative reduction). And honestly, how many other academic papers are there out there that include:
- a drawing of a pirate
- an alcoholic mascot
- or both?
